About Linda Kjellberg
"My heart lies with watercolor.."
I have been creating art since I was a child. I painted my own Halloween costumes, altered my clothes and had the big set of crayons. I was a graphic artist in my 20s, learned watercolor in my 30s and took up painting furniture and doing faux finishes in my late 40s.
I still like to do furniture when I get a good piece, turning it into something old and French or painted with flowers.
And I love to paint clothing! T-shirts are the hardest because on fabric there can be no mistake. If you splash a little color you have to make it part of the design. Shoes are a little easier and the designs are so cute walking down the street!
My watercolor technique is time-consuming and I use a lot of paint on dry paper. Wet-into-wet like most people learned watercolor is rare for me (maybe for the sky). I draw out each painting beforehand on tissue paper and transfer the drawing onto French-made watercolor paper. This way there aren't any erasures. And then I start building up the colors.
Since watercolor paintings cannot be exposed to the elements, all my work is sold matted and framed under glass. I work with a professional framer to find the best look for each painting. If you are interested in a painting, I will send you a photo of the entire framed piece.
Thank you for considering my work. It would be a privilege to have my art hanging on your wall!
